This may be a problem with my console and nobody elses but...

When i play any sort of music off the xbox 360 music player the bass is extremely weak. I made sure it wasn't just bass from songs streaming from my PC, it's also songs that are played in the CD player. I compared the very same CD in my DVD player and my Xbox 360, and the 360 sounded much worse...

The xbox plays loud bass during my games like GoW, but the Music player just sucks. I don't see any way to use an equalizer to fix this problem either.

BTW I am using a 5.1 surround sound system, and even with the subwoofer volume all the way up the music player still sounds like trash

If anybody else has the same issue as me, please let me know. I would love for there to be a solution to this becuase I love being able to stream music to my box from a PC in another part of the home.

Thanks all

This has been a problem with the console since it was released... it only outputs through the left and right channels so when you have it setup for 5.1 surround sound it doesn't bother to mix the sub woofer channel for you (because your audio is only mixed for left and right)

I spliced one of the Front channel RCA output into the sub to play music, now my music has Bass, since the sub is getting signal from the Front channel output from the 360

I am running optical to my 7.1 receiver. I had the same problem before my music was not getting the proper "mixing" (basically no sub out)

so I just spliced one of the front channel output to my sub.

You can do it with some RCA adaptors if you don't want to splice wires.

Basically try to send audio signal to your subs from one of the front channel left/right doesn't matter

Some followup questions:

- I still lose the bass while playing my music during gameplay (as opposed to straight music playback). So the digital (game) signal is reaching the sub, while the music is only stereo. This is expected, right?
- If I follow your instructions, will I be able to get bass in my music during gameplay, or only when I switch my receiver over to stereo mode?
- my sub has only a single RCA input (as compared to regular speaker cable w/ the two wires). How do I run an extra line into it? (I'm pretty inexperiences w/ things audio)
- If I'm playing MP3's, isn't it split into R + L? If so, won't my sub only get half of the bass?

Thanks for your help... I hope this shows up considering how old this thread is.

You can also just switch to stereo mode in the system settings panel, that'll bring the bass back. Thats what I do, then change the setting to 5.1 again when I wanna watch a movie or play a game.
