Im having some trouble getting my chip setup to work. Any and all help appreciated. Im pretty new to this so...bare with me smile.gif

Installed it first using hackdabox tutorial, however there was a problem with the connection on the tiny cable in LPC rebuild. Got that fixed but it still wouldnt work. MS dash started up fine, but when i tried starting it in chip mode it just went black.

I tried nailing down the problem with chancers tut, and i grounded BT, and L0. Now as soon as i insert the pw cord it powers up and still wont work, also cant turn it of with pw button. I get black picture, the chip wont boot.

Ive redone the soldering, and it looks OK to me.

I would appreciate your input. I would be able to take some pictures of it if needed.

Thanks,

Martin

if it is powering up as soon as u plug the power cord in then you have done some damage aroung the bt point

Thanks for your reply.

Maybe i should clarify, that it is when i have grounded both BT and L0, i get that problem with the box powering up as soon as i plug in the cord. If i install it like it says in hackdabox tut, it will start ms dash without problem but the chip mode isnt working correctly (black screen, flashing etc). So when i just press the start button normally im getting ms, and more than 2 sec its not working.

If i damaged BT, is there anything i can do to resolve that?

If you initially had BT connected to the resitor shown in all the diagrams its usually damage to the resistor that is the problem. Replacing it with another 10K ohm one will fix the power up problem.
The blank screen can be multiple things. If the bios on the chip is flashbios you must use the standard composite cables that cam with the Xbox in order to get anything on screen.
It could be an LPC soldering problem. It could be a bios problem with the hacked bios on the chip as your box is a 1.6b
Pictures of the rebuild work may help .

Aladdin XT Troubleshooter !

Follow that guide and let me know what happens ! Like chancer said you have damaged the surface mount resistor which now needs to be replaced ( you can use a normal resistor - it doesn't need to be smd )

Sounds like your lpc revuild is still not soldered properly to me !

k guys, thanks. Got the resistor part. I was reading a bit more in the auction where i bought the chip though and it says it needs to be falshed with new bios for version 1.6. So that might be the problem then right?

Where can i get hackdabox re-flash cd?

Thanks again,

Martin

Got the box working fine...for about 15mins...

No most of the time it powers up w/o av or picture, the yellow light is on...no flashing etc. On rare occations it frags. And even rarer i starts the chip bios and works fine. MS dash works fine all the time.

Maybe its a soldering problem....but still wierd...sometimes work sometimes not....and i havent touched it between these occations.

Any suggestions?

Martin

Hey again!

So im still having some trouble figuring this out. I have resoldered it again and i have no fragging. I have tested all possible points with meter on the LPC and voltage values are fully correct (According to hackdabox trouble shooting guide). Only problem that presist is that i get no audio or video in chip mode, on occations it will boot up fine in chip mode. Also i get the yellow led when i boot it in chip mode. Normal MS boot works fine always np there.

I heard something about problems with audio video on 1.6b and alladin, is this caused by this combability issue or is there still something wrong with my chip install?

Maybe i should just get another chip?

I would really appreciate your help in figuring this out.

Thanks agian,

Martin

It now sounds like you have the soldering sorted as there is no frag.
The problem now sounds like the old classic bad cpld code on the chip causing int no boot blank video.
You could try reflash the chip with a different bios to the one you have ie M8+.16

Hmm to be honest you got the wrong chip as the Aladdin XT works well on every other model but not the V1.6B

You can flash it with the Evox M8 Plus V16 but this bios causes problems with the alddin's CPLD code.

The Evox M8 V16 works fine with the aladdin's CPLD code but is not compatible with the new timming of the hynix RAM in the V1.6B

I would order a Duo X2 Blue chip and keep this aladdin XT for another xbox which has an older motherboard version.
