since u seem to be a casual gamer (no live) id suggest a 256mb mem card an a core should do you just fine as for cooling, not having a hard drive will make it a lil cooler but not by much since its in a seperate case

I also use an intercooler to help dissipate the heat from the console.

There is no 256 mb card for a few months. Just get a premium don't get a core. It's got better value in it not to mention it has HD cables with it/wireless controllers/and will give you a better gaming expierence overall.

The premium pack is much better value than the core and supports backward compatibility and other features because of the HDD. Overall the price for the core + the extra accesories that come with the premium would be much greater than the premium pack.

Yes definatley get a premium. It is so much better value. If you get a core, then a couple monts later want to get a hard drive, wireless controllers, etc... youd be wasting money so youd be far better off just forking out the extra $100 or whatever and get a premium. Plus you get the 360 with the cool looking chrome dvd bezel instead of the crap old white one cool.gif .

-Do you have an HDTV?
-Do you sit more then 8ft away from your TV?
-Do you plan on ever connecting to XBL and downloading anything?
-Do you plan on ever connecting to XBL and playing on line

If you answered yes to any of these questions you should get the premium

Even if you answered no to all of them the premium is the better value

Just the fact that you want to play your original games on the 360, I believe you NEED the HDD. I don't think a memory card can be used to play original Xbox games. I could be wrong, but I think that was the case.

Even if you did get the cheaper version, you still will need to spend 40 bucks on a 64 MB memory card to save your game progress. And who knows how much the 256 MB card will run. Your better off spending the extra 60 bucks for ALOT more memory. Plus you'll KNOW you'll be able to play your Backward Compatiable games.

if you want a wireless control also. the core is only for parents who dont want to spend the extra money on the reg 360. if you plan to use the 360 at all then get the premium.
