Alrighty, I'm sort of a semi-noob at this stuff and would appreciate any help. Sorry if this question has been asked before but I cannot find a definate answer.

I was playing online with a lite-on flashed with 1.6. As with most of us I got banned during the wave. As with a lot of us, we cannot play without our xbox live. Since, then I have upgraded to LT and got an idea. Could I possibly buy a cheap xbox with a faulty DVD drive and then put my Lite-On in it? I have heard heard about spoofing and am a little unsure what that is about, whether it means messing with the DVD drives or the hardware in one of the xboxs. I really just want a cheap method for getting back on live. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah that would work but you would have to make sure the xbox you bought had a Liteon Drive in it because you can't spoof LT firmware to a different drive. The process would be:

1) Buy an xbox with a Liteon Drive.
2) Extract the key from the DVD drive of the new xbox.
3) Flash your existing xbox dvd drive with LT using the key extracted from the new drive as your source.
4) Connect your old dvd drive to your new xbox and enjoy.

Google Jungleflasher guide if you want more detail.

The question is how are you going to make sure the cheap box you buy has exactly the same Liteon as you've got? There are 4 versions and none can be spoofed to each other.

Also just hope the one you bought isn't also banned from Live.

True....just saying it was possible not that I'd recommend doing it. The second hand market on xboxs is a mine field (red rings, bans etc.) Personally I'd sell your old one as banned and use the money you get to put towards a brand new one.

Oh aye, London Gumtree is horrific for that...I've bought a few "never been touched" boxes only to find all sorts of horrors lurking inside. Brand new one is the only way to go.

I agree what you both said in this thread about buying a new box btw not trying to be clever here just trying to educate and give out correct information out.All liteons are the same hardware wise, the only thing that makes them different is the firmware on them,so you have a liteon and you erase it,then what you have is a blank liteon, what ever firmware you put on it next determines what version of liteon it is,so it doesnt matter what liteon you have,so spoofing is irrevelant and pointless within liteons.

Hey thanks for all your help guys, really appreciate it.

Anyone with information about clearing a liteon drive and then flashing with any firmware, please pm me or leave a comment.

Thanks again!
