Ripping Games Via Dvd, SATA DVD hack possible? Options

i was thinking about dumping the firmware from the x360 dvd drive and flashing it to a normal pc LG/Hitachi drive with some trial and error we might have some success..

this would only allow you to use the PC drive in a 360 to read games (as as the PC drive mods with xbox)

it will not allow you to read the 360 games in a PC

Anyone tried to scan a 360 game dvd with a raw sector read
program yet ???? Cous i think that the hard bits of the
dvd tracks, like sectors and everything is standard.
So a raw reed maybe gona give us a clue of the structure
on the game dvd's

im sure its been tried, and im sure it failed for the same reason we cant do the same with xbox1 games

i tried last night it only scaned the 0 layer,

you know the one that has the please play this disc in a xbox 360 console message,

if i could just scan the second layer somehow.. any got any tips?

its not a layer issue, its how the data is written, the game data (assuming its like the xbox) is written from the outside in (backwards) the "put in your console" video is from the inside out (like a normal disc)

also assuming similarities to xbox discs, the data is encrypted, so even if you could get a computer to read from the outside in you still wouldnt be able to read the data off it

folks have been trying for 4 years to get xbox games to read in PC with no luck whatsoever, dont expect anythign different from 360 discs

so its like the Gamecube.. why didn't Sony do this?

There might be some checks in the bios, to see if it's connected to a XBOX. So you'd might have to patch the bios. If you succeed in that (or if it is not necessary at all), then you'd still have to write a device driver for it. And if you succeed in that, YES, then you could read the DVD's in your PC (if the hardware in the drive is the same as the hardware in the XBOX 360 drive)

You are wrong! The data is encrypted but not invisible... you can read encrypted data and burn it again on a new support, even by PC (when someone will implement a correct program/driver). But to play it we need a modded xbox 360.

About old xbox, PC games ripping were possible using special tools you can find into xbins (still dont remember the name but i used it before many times).

So... i expect early to find a XBOX360 ripping tool for PC.

warez, if you actually did rip xbox games, you would know you need more than just a tool. However, as the past goes so does the present. The same technique used for xbox works for 360.
