Hi, I might of found this forum too late but its good to see an xbox1 forum still has activity
After searching for weeks for a modchip and getting nowhere, I thought id struck lucky when a mate offered me a pre-modded xbox. When I got it home I realised it has been soft-modded. Its an Xbox v1.6b (from xbox scene verifier) runs mxm and linux tools 1.8. Many features dont seem to function ie, "run mini linux" does nothing, "kde launcher" simply locks the console, all uxe/eee install/uninstall options generate errors and the only dashboard listed is MS Dash. When trying to ftp into it to view file structure I hit a problem, after setting ltools to allow anonymous connection, I still cant connect via ftp. Xbox responds asking for email address. Only answer i can find online is default "xbox" password which doesnt work. Im hoping theres a simple answer, but fear the password/email address with be part of a config file which i need ftp access to edit Any help really appreciated This is the info from ltools system info screen... Xbox Ver P2l 1.0.5838 204692551205 C: 524,206,080 total - 337,723,392 free e: 5,118,754,816 total - 4,919,214,080 fre f: not present g: not present PAL 192.168.0.3 static ENET Gateway: 192.168.0.1 MAC addr' Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 DNS1: 0.0.0.0 DNS2: 0.0.0.0 ANDY Dashboard PS. Im using an old router set-up to match the network config, not interested in inet access just ftp. |

That sounds like a really old softmod, and I suspect it will have more fundamental problems than just the FTP password.. Use HeXEn (Google Heimdall's Xbox Engineering Disc) burned to DVD-R at 4x or slower to upgrade to a newer softmod, either Krayzie 1.1.1 or Kingroach NDURE 3.1.

What a fantastic bit of software, installed Kingroach, and now installed xbmc. This package is blatantly more advanced than what was previously installed.
xbmc was the whole purpose of wanting to mod in the first place. Next step bigger hard drive then Im set. Im wondering though.. what would I have to do to prepare my other (unmodded v1.6) xbox for use with this disk, does it only work with previous soft-mods? Thanks again, this disk was exactly what I was looking for |

Thanks, I'm glad you found it useful.
Before you do anything else, take the backup of your eeprom (I think it's in E:\Backup\) and copy it to your PC for safe keeping. You should also upgrade to the latest XBMC. Boot with HeXEn, then use FTP to manually overwrite the XBMC installation at E:\Apps\XBMC with the latest version (delete the current version first, then replace with the latest version). Reboot and make sure that XBMC works when you run it as an application from the dashboard. HeXEn won't mod an unmodded Xbox, but now that you have one modded Xbox, modding the second one becomes relatively easy. All you need is an Xbox memory card and an exploitable game. Splinter Cell is the best game to go for, because all editions of the original game are exploitable. Put the memory card in your modded Xbox, and copy the gamesave folders from your modded Xbox (E:\UDATA\5553000c and E:\UDATA\21585554) or from HeXEn (\Krayzies\Ndure1.1\SC-NTSC or \Krayzies\Ndure1.1\SC-PAL) to the root of the memory card. If the dash version on your unmodded Xbox isn't 5960 then use Halo 2 (or any newer live-enabled game) to update the dash to 5960. Then use the MS Dash on the new Xbox to copy the gamesaves onto the hard drive, run Splinter Cell, and load the hacked gamesave. Once the installer loads, backup the eeprom, then install the softmod - select Basic Install - UnleashX Dashboard. |

Took me a while browsing other threads to double-take your name lol. Ive relied on collaboration boot disks for years to cover my own laziness fixing pc's and Im always amazed at the time people like yourself put into them.
Backups done, Ill look for latest xbmc tonight, although Ive put a few vidz and music on without disappointment. I dont want to do too much before getting a bigger drive and having to start again. Once again Thank you heres some popcorn |
