Hey everyone, you've probably heard this a million times. I formatted 2 USB drive (64 Creative Nomad MuVo and 128 Creative Nomad MuVo) with the xbox as mentioned in various tutorials. After that I installed Action Replay (version 3.1 built July 28 2004). Then I used USBview to copy the ivendor and iproduct numbers to the xbreader.inf file in C:\Program Files\Datel\Action Replay XBOX\Drivers . Then I updated drivers and used the Maxdrive entry.

Here's the problem. Neither drive works with Action Replay. Sometimes the logo just remains gray, other times it just blinks green and gray.

I know others have found ways around this. How can this be fixed?

hello
i had the same problem with the AR and getting it to work on vista and xp

try this , right click on my computer, choose "properties." Then choose "hardware," and then "device manager."

Next, click the + next to USB Serial Bus Controllers, or it might be under USBIO Controlled Devices.

Now, look over the list, then unplug your AR cable. One of the hardware items will disappear from the list. Plug the cable back in, it will reappear. This is the only way to really identify for sure which device you need to look at.

When you know you have the right device, right click on it and choose "properties," then click on the "details" tab. See the long number? It's like: "USB/VID_058F&PID_9380"

now open the file xbreadr.inf this can be found in your Programs, Datel, Action Replay, Drivers.
Scroll down a bit until you see the header: "[_Devices]" below it is a list of a bunch of lines like this: "%S_DeviceDesc1%=_Install1, USB\VID_05FD&PID_DBAE"

copy any line and paste it at the top of these lines. Then, change the line so that the appropriate numbers match YOUR device's numbers (the numbers in the details) so for example "%S_DeviceDesc1%=_Install1, USB\VID_058F&PID_9380 save and close.

now back in the property pages click update driver, and point it to the xbreadr.inf in your Programs, Datel, Action Replay, Drivers folder,

install the driver, then try reloading the AR or Max drive

this worked for me
hope this works for you.

Problem solved. I found a friend who had a MS memory stick (card?) and I used that. I think the USB drives weren't being recognized after all. Although the xbox could erase the usb drives it could not write to them. Thanks for all the help. I don't know if timmo110's solution would work in this case because I used the MS stick before reading his post.

For anyone else experiencing this problem:
One thing I found with the AR software is that it only works on a usb stick plugged into a USB V1.1, not a 2.0. Even if the stick is 2.0.
Hope this helps someone.

Hello all,
I can't find drivers for AR Max that are compatible with XP 64 Pro. Does anyone know where I can find the drivers, or a workaround? AR Max is installed, but won't transfer anything and Datel is of no help. Thanks in advance.
