Is there any way to define the difference between a quick press and a long press in the bios? Unless I am as quick as Grasshopper snatching the pebble, I keep booting to the MS bios. If I get lucky and do it fast enough, I can boot with the chip enabled and everything works fine. I don't know how many times I've "quick" pressed power and walked away only to realize that I was too slow.

I can power up (chip enabled) with the eject button, but then I have to wait for the tray to open to shut it again. Also, I'm guessing its checking for a disk, but it takes a really long time to get to the dashboard when I do it this way.

X3 (not CE) on a 1.6 (not cool.gif with the latest X3 bios.

Thanks

I got the P/E board used, so who knows how old it is. Could that be the problem? Something wrong with it or maybe just a little worn out? Great, now I"m finding stuff to blame since I guess I'm getting too slow.

1.6 installs seem to be much more touchy about how short the quick press needs to be. Guess that doesn't help you much other than to let you know that it's a common issue.

Oh, and to answer your original question:

Obviously not. Think about it... how can a BIOS setting determine whether the BIOS gets booted?

You're right, I guess I was thinking of a setting in config live or something. Something differentiates between a quick and long press, so why not be able to define what a long press is?
