Wow.....I guess it WAS the brand of DVD-Rs. I have a brand of cheapo DVD-Rs I never use because the success rate of burning on them is about 50/50, and the Xbox hates them, but it booted. The video kept skipping because the brand sucks, but it worked. I just don't understand why some of the Maxell DVDs worked, and the others don't, and they're out of the same batch.
And the Samsung isn't dirty, and neither is my brother's Thompson.
Sigh. You clearly didn't get the general gist of that Thread. Maxell OUTSOURCES TO A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS!!!!!!! They also produce some of their own media. Chances are you got some Taiwanese (Ritek made) discs which suck (mixed results, early deterioration, ect.). If you get the Japanese made Maxells, they are usually produced by Maxell themselves and are quite good. Use
http://www.dvdinfopro.com and pop a blank of each disc in and select the media ID icon and that will give you the media manufacturer ID on both discs. Post them back here and read some more of my thread and you will have a clearer idea of who you are really dealing with. DO NOT TRUST NAME BRANDS!!!!!!!!!!
