I just want to make sure that I have all my info correct before I flash my Benq drive and brick it. I have a Benq that is currently flashed with iXtreme 1.4.......I DO NOT have my original firmware bin because my computer crashed and lost all data, but from what I read is that I can just flash over it using jungleflasher.

I am going to just use jungleflasher to pull up my current firmware that is already flashed and write over it with the new 1.51 firmware so I can play Wave 3 games.

I have a VIA SATA card on my computer and will use that to connect and flash.

Am I missing anything?

Nope, I used dosflash 32 to read my current flash then used jungleflash to patch it. Then I used dosflash to write it. Dont know why I didnt use jungleflash for the whole thing, guess im just used to using dosflash. Make sure to save your key.

All you need to do is get the drive into status by clicking benq unlock, if that was successful you will see the flashchip info.

Click read and it will dump the drive. save the file somewhere safe (rename it benq_cfw14 so you know its your old 1.4 firmware and if you are using the latest JF it will autoload the benq Ixtreme firmware (make sure you have the ix151-benq.bin in the JF firmware folder). it automatically copies over your drive info and key to the IX firmware and just click save save to file, save this in the same place you dumped the firmware to.

Go back to the mkt flash 32 tab and just click write. it will erase then write and verify.

HTH

Whoa, you just confused me. lol

How do I get my drive into "status by clicking benq unlock"? I don't know what you mean by that. I thought all I have to do is open up jungleflasher and it does everything for me. haha

In the mktflash 32 tab there is this handy button labelled Benq unlock wink.gif you use that so JF can get the drive into status since you are on 1.4 firmware.

Dont think you can just overwrite your firmware with ix1.51 because you will be up shit creek with no proper dvd key! wink.gif

Follow my instructions and you will go far smile.gif

JF does do things for you but it still needs a bit of user input.

Ahhhh, I gotcha. Thanks for your help. I will be flashing it when I get off of work today. Wish me luck! lol

Also, when I was in xbins there were 2 different 1.51 firmwares on there. I downloaded the one that has "FINAL" there. Is that the right one?

Ah, forgot about that. you need to go to your c drive windows/system32/drivers and delete the viamraid.sys file, uninstall the 6412 and reboot, then ignore the add hardware prompts for the drivers.

Then try again.

I have my benq drive connected to my via6421 card but when I click on the MTK Flash 32 tab and try to click all the I/O ports, none of them are recognizing my benq. What am I doing wrong now?

Could this be a problem?............when I was getting everything together, my RAID VIA6421 was not found in windows and I had to install a driver to get it to work. I searched google and found a VIA driver, downloaded it and "updated driver" in windows. It was not downloaded from the same manufacturors website as the one that I actually have. The VIA6421 controller reads as............VIA RAID CONTROLLER - 3249............did I mess up my VIA6421 by installing a firmware from another manufacturor? If so, can I erase the firmware i put on and download the one from my manufactutor?

I tried downloading the firmware from my manufacturor's website and installing it, but it says that the current firmware is newer and it doesn't go through.

Did you not get a disc with your VIA6421 card when you installed it if not turn off your computer unplug your card restart computer shut down again reinstall card and it should load drivers again
Then you can read the tutorial in the jungle flasher1.55 in the appendix and it shows you how to remove via driver
Somewhere in this forum theres alink for the VIA530c driver cant remember where
