Console Update Thread, Keep it all in here Options

My console just came up with a message saying that there is an update available for my console , just wondered if anyone knows what the update had in it , i updated it anyway but the update must have only become available today as i was signed in to live yesterday.

just was about to post this, umm all i notices is the dash revision changes from 6683 to 6690, maybe some drm fixes or something?

Anyone know if this is safe to update? Im not sure if i should accept this or if there is banning code contained within?

normally they wait a few days dont they untill more people have updated, then the big tidal wave of bans begin.. I hope not tho! U noticed any differences yet buddy?

You'll notice as you log into Xbox LIVE that there is an console update. The flash contains a minor code change to prepare for future growth of the service. There will be no immediate or noticeable changes to the interface or services for Xbox LIVE or the Xbox 360.

That statement from ms sounds strange aswell! future growth = bans?

Xbox 360 System update now available (no new features)
A few minutes ago, the team released a system update for the Xbox 360 over Xbox LIVE. Sometime over the next few hours when you sign in to Xbox LIVE you’ll recieve a prompt to accept this mandatory update. This update contains code to ‘prepare for future growth of the service.’ There are no other changes or enhancements in this update…in other words no new features. The next obvious question you’ll have is about the Spring update. At this point we have nothing to announce, and the moment there is information to share I will do so.

I think im gonna hold off on this one until C4E or someone in the community can shed some light on the code contained in the update.

Sounds way to suspicious to me with just over a week to go for the GTA IV release & it has been a few months now since we've heard from the M$ ban hammer.

Yup I totally agree with your points on GTA and the hammer, I dont like the look of this update at all!

If you dont accept the update your as good as banned anyway.
Im pretty sure M$ have released featureless updates in the past with no detremental effect on modded consoles.
IIRC the spring update was a full dashboard update that started the first banwave.
