I've got a problem flashing a new bios on my chameleon 1.5. I've got a cromwell bios 2.28 dev installed.
When I boot up my xbox everything works just fine and my dvd opens and on my screen the following line flashes "please insert cd: Flashing mode"

I made some flashing cd's according to the "A guide to soft-flashing your Chameleon BIOS" and burned the bin and the dummy file on a cdrw. My dvd player reads the cd perfectly but the only problem is that everytime when I think its gonna install the new bios it says: "unknown flash: halding" I am pretty sure that I followed the instructions the right way. I also named the files BIOS.BIN instead of LINUXBIO.BIN on some cdrw's and that also didnt work. (I used both names but on different cdrw's)

What must I do?

Yeah, I put in the dummy file and yes, all switches are off. Had the same problem as you.. costed me 2 days to figure it out how to make that damn chip work smile.gif If I only knew that i had to switch those switches off hehe, but I did now so that isnt the problem. It does boot in cromwell 2.28

It's just that this version of cromwell doensnt want to flash my bios. It keeps halting and telling me that the flash is unknown

I found a lot of people in my boat, so I am posting the solution I found wiht the help of a very clever fox called Danin.

If you are stuck with a cromwell 2.27 that won't load or boot ANYTHING, read on:

Take a BIOS (like IND-BIOS) which is 256k. Copy it (copy + + + ) four times onto a file, eg. copy a.bin + a.bin + a.bin + a.bin > BIOSUPD1.BIN. Slip that in when cromwell asks and BAM, cromwlel is dead, IND-BIOS lives. Apparently it kept coming back becuase ti wasn't fully wiped out. This did the trick for me, I hope it helps you out too smile.gif
