Is this feature working atm, or am I doing it wrong?

When choosing to Compile datafile as HTML Page, should I expect an HTML attachment to arrive in my Gmail inbox? Because all I'm getting is an email full of what looks like junk.

Any advice would be great, I'd really love to back up my PM's.

Thanks smile.gif

I've never tried this before, but I can confirm what DARKFiB3R has explained. It looks like the file isn't getting attached at all, but its contents are being written into the email itself. It does the same for an Excel file.

After some research it appears that this is a Gmail issue, not a forum issue. Have you tried to read the messages with a different email account?

Thanks for the reply's, finally got around to trying to sort it out.

Had a bit of a battle to reactivate old yahoo account, but got that sorted eventually, then had to re-activate my x-s account after entering new email details.

Anyway, I'm still getting the same garbled email with yahoo, no matter what options I choose when archiving. rolleyes.gif

Did you successfully backed up your messages, Aldanga? Could you tell me what email service you used?

My ISP uses a Gmail front end, so I'm stuck with webmail services if that makes a difference.

Also noticed that the maximum number of messages you can choose to archive is only 50 (got 75 in my sent box dry.gif ) and with no way to choose which messages to backup, that kinda sucks.

Probably has something to do with the search/query function disabled.

No telling how long it would take but how about a right click in the PM saving the page as an html file.

Actually I figured it out, you need to download a BASE64 MIME decoder.
I found this shareware one. http://www.etresoft.com/decoder.html

Download and install it. Send all of the PM you want to your email.

In the email COPY to clipboard every thing from where the aterisks are below

Content-Disposition: attachment;

all the way down to the bottom of the message where is says( where my asterisks are) - i am using gmail by the way

Then paste all of the into a .txt file and name it anything you want. Open the program and drag the .txt into the program, it will warn a few times about not having a folder set, you may be able to set this in preferences but i just let it dump it to my desktop. It made a single pm_archive.html file with one page with all PM's on it. Its very basic looking but it decodes it right.

Better yet download Windows Live Mail, i am using windows 7.

Its part of the LIVE essentials, just install the mail.

http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials?os=other

Any just use your gmail login settings and make sure IMAP is set up in gmail prefrences.

Windows Mail actually decodes the damn messages properly and shows the attachment!

Apparently web based email can't decode the base64 properly.

I'm willing to be Thunderbird will work as well.

=)

Good luck!

Nice one man, thanks for the heads up, and for looking into it.

I did notice that it said base64. I intended trying to enter into an online decoder thing, but never got around to it.

Had a feeling it could be something to do with web mail too (not that I really know anything about such things lol)

I'll give the "proper" email client method a shot.

Thanks again.

I'm a mainframe/network/hardware/programming analyst. Jack of all/master of nothing hehe.

I can't ever let problems go, haha.

I spent like 6 hours last night beating Excel into submission trying to take negative time stamps based on current time.
