Hi all, I have an old lcd screen, inverter and controller board. I need 12v 5a to power up. Now 12v is available in several places, what I don't understand is the 5a part. I have no electrical knowledge, if I get 12v supply, how do I ensure the 5a part. I have seen a relay on eflay, and was wondering if this was a good opton.

Cheers

Relay Part

That relay is of approximately zero use for obtaining 12 volts at 5 amps.

What you need to look for is a DC power supply that is rated to output >=60 watts at 12 volts, or that is rated for 12vdc at >= 5a.

It shouldn't be too hard to find.

You should also keep in mind that you need to power the xbox, too. It "needs" a 120W supply.

In reality, if you're looking to use a pico-psu for power, you should look for one that offers >=6a on the 12V line and >=18a on the 5v line, and has a power output of >=180 watts.

The xbox power supply is only rated to supply 1a on the 12v line. You'd need to have a separate supply to get the 12v.

Luckily, a 12v brick that can output 6 amps isn't that hard to come by. Notably, you could use the supply from an xbox 360 to EASILY provide the power you need.

I will look into using a 360 supply, as this seems the most sensible option, (well cheaper anyhow). Are there any schematics for the 360 floating about, or is it a big secret like the xbox 1. Thanx for the input.
