I have a few basic questions regarding my Xbox360:

I purchased a new Xbox360 and it had stock firmware.

Suppose stock firmware = A

Now, in order to play burned games, I flashed it. Let it's new firmware be B
The firmware B could not play XGD3 games so I downloaded Microsoft Update from it's
official website and updated my Xbox via flash USB.

But after the update, I find that my firmware has been reset to A (i.e. Stock firmware)

Here are my questions:

1. Why did this happen?
2. Is it possible to update my Xbox360 WITHOUT getting it reset to stock firmware?
I want to update my Xbox but it's getting reset to stock firmware caused by the
update

Last time I checked a few months back, everyone recommended me to get LT3.0+ for my console, I hope nothing has changed. I'll go to a guy to get it flashed for me. Just need a final go ahead from you guys.

So I should get LT3.0+ tomorrow right? Final ?

Yes, LT+3.0 is the latest firmware. Don't worry about the console resetting your firmware to stock. That was most likely a one time thing and most likely won't happen again.

it is also a good rule of thumb to wait a few days before accepting an update... or at least, check here or c4eva's site for latest info about recent updates before accepting.

Hey I went to that guy to get LT +3.0 but he says that if I get LT +3.0, I won't be able to play the old games and I'll only be able to play the latest games which are of XGD3 format. What should I do?

Stop going to ill-informed losers for your modding.

Some of your old XGD3/AP25 backups might need to reburned, but that's it.
