Ok first off I have been around the Xbox 1 modding scene for years. Ok I am buying a used 360 this coming week from a user on another website. It is a premium and I have never really looked at Xbox 360's or anything so I am not really sure what to expect. I know what all comes with it and stuff but I have a few questions.
  • The xbox is about a year old and he has never had any issues. Should I do the X-Clamp replacement even though its never had problems just to be safe?
  • I have This Monitor I use DVI for my PC and then have the VGA port open. So is there any way to plug the 360 into the monitor and use 720P or any type of High Def?
  • When I get the xbox is there anything I should do to help decrease the chance of it failing?
  • Do you need a credit card for Xbox Live? I remember on the xbox 1 you did.

1) No. ONLY if you have the 3ROL problem and you have NO other solution available to fix the problem.
2) Yes. Use the MS VGA cable to use between your monitor, and the console. The latest XBL update enhanced the VGA quality for the X360.
3) Don't move the console around alot. Practice the habit of removing a game disk inside the console before you move the system. Keep the console in a WELL ventilated place.
4) No. You can redeem a pre-paid card for XBL you purchased from the game store. I recommend you DONT give MS your credit card. They give hidden charges and fees.

Ok thanks for the quick reply. Also what is the highest resolution you can do with the VGA cable? Is it possible to get 1080i?

Haha sorry I don't know much about HD. But I am guessing since you said that it is possible to do HD with a monitor correct?

Thats correct. Use a MS VGA cable and download the latest dashboard update from xbox LIVE and your good to go.
EDIT: With that monitor, you may have to use 720p resolution since it only goes up to 1400X900. 720p is still high definition and it is what I currently use. In my opinion, 720p looks better and runs better than 1080i and since there are few X360 games that run on 1080p, theres no sense in going that high anyhow over HDMI. Using a VGA cable for 720p is perfectly fine for your monitor. There will be a HUGE difference between 720p and crappy old TV which is 480i.

You can be charged without your knowledge, and in rare cases like me, fraudulent charges may be applied to your Credit card. It's just best to buy pre-paid cards at the store. Did I mention you CANNOT currently remove your credit card once you give it to them blink.gif ?

well, i check my credit card statement every month, so if i've been charged without my knowledge, its without my credit card company's knowledge also as i haven't paid 1 unexpected cent wink.gif.

unfortunately that part about not being able to unlink the card is true though.

Ok well I just picked it up along with the VGA cable. I am unsure of how to change to 720P though. I changed the resolution to the second highest one though. Is there how you do it? If not how do I?
