Just wanted to start by saying these forums and the people in the community have helped me out with alot of stuff... This is my first post so I'll try not to be too noob for you guys
Alright... I used the ChefElf tut by mrRobinson on how to FTP my Box to PC... It worked wonders for about 3 days... Now when startup the Xbox it says Err after the IP on the bottom left where it says "No Link" if your not hooked up... What happend there?? I've looked all through forums on this site and many more... I've googled it ending up with nothing... Anyone out there ever have this problem? or maybe can explain to me whats going wrong? Or help me fix it? I have Yahoo and MSN messengers if needed... I'm hooked up to the PC through my router.... Like i said it worked great for 3 days... In the past week i've spent 3-5 hours a day searching for the answer to my problem... Thnx Guys... Xbox 1.0 mobo X3 chip 120gig WD HDD |

when it says ERR that means its not pulling an ip. check to make sure that the cable is pluged in on both ends, that the cable isnt damaged, and that if your using a crossover cable that you havent disabled the network card on the computer. oh yeah, no need for a double post.

More Info.... Cable or DSL? Router brand? What is your ip address for your pc when you open a command prompt and type ipconfig /all (should be a 192.168.x.x addy) see if changing your DHCP settings on your router makes any difference.
Although this shouldn't make a difference, make sure the cable you are using is a straight cable if you are connecting to the router rather than a crossover, keep it short as well. |

Right, what I was saying was that I dont think it would make a difference since he is going from xbox to router, they say to use a straight thru cable, but I have a crossover cable on mine right now and it actually works, odd, but working. I wouldnt necessarily recommend it, but it's the only cable I have available at the moment.
Keeping it short just keeps those annoying instances, where you need to run to take a piss in a fraction of a second and end up tripping on 50 feet of CAT5 and breaking the connector off, to a minimum |
