Is this a common problem ? Do I need a certain type of CD burner?
I copied just common windows folders like my Surreal64 folder on the CD, with the roms and all inside the folder and my unleashx is not reading them... I figure I am doing something wrong, I used the Vista CD Burner by just exploring into the CD and dragging the items, is there a certain type of format the CD has to be in? What it does is, I go on the file explorer, put the cd in, go into the D drive and it will pop up with "Checking..." for about 15 seconds and then that will blink off and I will have a choice to go to the root directory, like I am viewing a directory with no files inside... All I can think of is that I should not be using folders although I also had an ISO on one of the CDs Sorry for such a stupid question ( i think ) but i am extremely new to this and even after reading through several X-S tutorials and FAQs, I am still having a few problems. |

Most Xbox Drives do not read Cd-R discs, you should try cd-rw or dvd-r

Ohhhh, alrighty... And that would be the only thing I am doing wrong? The XBox will read a the folders and such?
Thanks! |

As far as CD burning format goes, it needs to be in xiso form. U can use a program like craxtion to make xiso cds. Is there a reason u aren't ftping into ur xbox? It's an easier and more convenient way to manage files on ur xbox. |

I tried the FTPing but number one I dont have a TV in reach within my computer and two, I actually did bring my TV closer once and tried connecting with my ethernet cable from my computer to the XBox and followed the tutorial, no avail. It did not detect the XBox (may be common, but I tried to go into my TCP/IP settings even though nothing was showing up and change the settings, but nothing) I know there is probably something I am forgetting with the FTPing but I really don't see what. I followed this: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=183856 for Configuration 1 UnleashX. I set everything on my xbox, and connected them using the ethernet cord, nothing got detected by my xbox or computer so I tried to go under what usually shows up when I connect to the internet and went to those options and changed the TCP IP settings. Maybe it's Vista? |

I looked at both ends and the colors matched up, guess I can't do it this way until I get the correct cable? |

I looked at both ends and the colors matched up, guess I can't do it this way until I get the correct cable? I'll explain to u what u did wrong. If u want to use normal ethernet cables (straight through cables) u need to connect through a switch. A router will work because it has a built in switch. One from comp to switch and one from xbox to switch. A crossover cable will allow u to plug one end into ur comp and the other into ur xbox. U need to take time and read ur guides. If u cut corners with other things u can really fuck up ur xbox and ul have no one to blame but urself. |
