ok i froze the case over night and through school and when i got home i tried hitting the back with my shoe, and smacking it with my dogs large rahide bone. still didnt work so i put it in the freezer again and went to a friends house. when i got home i tried smacking it with the bone again, then i used a real hammer. All i got out of it was i broke off those tabs on the back of the jewel. its still on there.

Can anyone help me get it off?

Leave it out for about an hour so that it can warm back up to room temperature. When it's ready go ahead and take it into your bathroom, take a seat on your toilet with your Xbox cover faced down inbetween your knees, and fire up your hair dryer. Point it at the back of the jewel, keeping it a few inches away so it doesn't come in contact with the plastic. Let it heat up for a few minutes, then take a really thin flathead screwdriver and pry the jewel off gently. It's easy stuff.

the flos is the best way ever also freezing it makes the jewel more fragile due to the cold if anything use floss or the hairdryer.

well i had the same problem with the frezzer method not working, and well i dont have a hairdryer. So I improvised yet still used heat. Well i know this is not the best idea, and kids becarefull. oh wait kids dont try these, and everyone else be very carefull. well anyway the freezer didnt work and no hair dryer so i thought what about the stove ( i have a gas stove at that). Well i fired up a burner and made sure i held it high enough to not melt the lid. Well after just a little bit it peeled right up. its faster then a hairdryer, but you could melt your lid or even burn yourself. so kids please dont try this. if you do want to try this get an adult to do it for you.

Yeah i would use the floss method. Thats what i have done on 3 xbox's already and have had no problems at all. Everytime i use do it the jewel comes of easy. The only hard part is getting the floss under the jewel. After you do that it is smooth sailing smile.gif

I've done the floss and hair dryer and tried the freezer. The floss took like 2 minutes while the hair dryer took like 15.

Just be sure you get enough floss to wrap it around your hands, if you don't it slips out.

i tried the floss method today but i couldnt stop the floss snapping mad.gif for anyone having trouble getting it under in the first place, use a playing card to push it down the little groove around the jewel, easy as pie. just a shame my floss was weak.

got the hairdryer out and it was off in 5 minutes. biggrin.gif

If the floss keeps snapping an alternative someone suggested was fishing line.

I had no floss, so trying used 12 pound fishing line... after a few back and forth motions the line starts heating up due to plastic on plastic friction and eventually snaps. Fishing line didnt work for me.
