Xbox v1.0, no chip, EvoX through save-game exploit, in case it helps. No hardware changes at all.

Everything is peachy, except that I can't play DVDs at the moment (DVD as in standard store-bought video, not games or burns or whatever). My system plays games, homebrews and uploads just fine... The discs aren't imports or anything (it's not a region or format issue). I tried every disc I could get my hands on (Star Wars, Hero, ClerksX... good Christmas)

I tell EvoX to launch the Disc, it says it's executing, but it just goes back to the menu. Pop a game in, works fine (KOTOR2, Halo 2). Back to DVDs, no go. And the system played DVDs just fine before the mod.

...any ideas? Or am I just missing an app?

Evox needs the setting changed in the evox.ini file to point to your dvd app.

Most people use DVDX - as it works without the DVD remote unit

Agreed, evox isn't capable of playing a dvd itself. All the launch dvd button does is launch the program that you have pointed it to, to play your dvd's. And like Dogath said, most people use dvdx, but I think that the new version of it is called dvdx2.
