I have the MC360 blades dashboard, and I have an opitcal cable hooked up for sound. It plays sound out through my receiver but i can't seem to get it to decode the Dobly Digital and DTS signals from Xbox. When i go to SYSTEM/AUDIO HARDWARE it show that the audio output is set to analog and it won't let me change it to digital or select AC3 Capable receiver or DTS Capable Receiver. Really annoying, any thoughts?

Your AV pack obviously doesn't switch the flags necessary.

A debug log on startup will show you what it is being detected (by the xbox, not by XBMC) as.

Thanks for the quick reply bro. So i definetly need a different AV pack? I guess i'm kinda a new to this so I don't really know how to see the debug log on startup, any more help would be appreciated.

First of all, that is not a debug log.

Second, that is an old build.

Standard found -> Standard AV Pack is what is being registered. Thus, no digital out.

It's not an official pack from Microsoft now is it. Some of the (crappier) 3rd party ones don't set the flags correctly.

Go into the MS Dash and see if you can change it there. You won't be able to.

No it's not an official Microsoft pack, can you link me to one with optical out and s-video?

Went to MSDASH and changed it from Stereo to Dolby Surround.

Also don't get "you won't be able to"

Thanks for the help though

Yes, changing that setting to Dolby Surround in MSDASH didn't let me change the setting to digital in XBMC. Darn, i guess all i can do is try to get an official xbox av-pack then.

Dolby Surround != Digital output.

If that's the only settings you see, then you "won't be able to" change the digital ones.

And yes, you'll have to get a better AV pack, or hack yours to set the appropriate flags (probably out of the range of your abilities).
