New Package Psp Slim N Lite+ps3 Options

Hey,

i might go out and buy the new psp+ps3(80gb) package for 499€.
The psp is the slim and lite version.
Can i play homebrew games on it ?
i read that you have to update firmware but will that work on
that new psp or is that only with the old school psps? Sorry for a newbie question.
would be cool if someone has a link to an UPDATED newbie faq..where they
explain everything including for the slim and lite.
