I was bored the other day and idly wandering around the internet, when I remembered a game I used to play years ago on my old PC: Scudden Death.
It's a freeware, 2D, Real-Time, split-screen, war game which works very well with joypad. Hard to explain, check it out at
http://scuddendeath.cjb.net/.
There is a sequel for it, but the source code for it hasn't been fully released.
It's very simple graphically and should run easily even with the Xbox's limited processing power and RAM.
I don't know anything about programming for the Xbox, and though I would love to learn I'm currently getting anally raped by exams. I might have a go at it once they're finished as a way of learning, but right now I just thought I'd check it out with you veterans
