I also looked at my gamecube and saw some really funky screws anyone know how to get those screws out?

For a gamecube you need a 4.5mm gamebit (im pretty sure thats what it is) to take out the screws. or you can take a bic pen, melt one end and stick it onto the screw and hold it for about 30 secs, then start unscrewing.

pen trick didnt work for me so i bought a gamebit... can find them on ebay... for the ps2, just turn it over and pry off every little pad with a knife: there are phillips screws under each... then just cut the warranty sticker...

To use a BIC pen, you have to have one of the old hard clear plastic ones. I read that somewhere, but I didn't try it. To buy a gamebit in the US, the cheapest place I could find after shipping and everything was here.

hey don't use a clear plastic bic pen w/ the blue end...it is weak plastic, and the end is too bulbous. Get the white ones with the black end (also BIC) .. just remember to move the pen as FAST as you can onto the screw, align it straight, press hard for about a minute, remove it slowly, blow it off and make sure it's cool. Put it back in, gently get it to fit snugly onto the screw, press in as hard as possible and twist anti-clockwise. They aren't in as tight as you think, so once you've got it moving it's a cinch.

You dont necessarily need to buy a gamebit...

The pen trick worked for me. Try this tho...

After you get each of the screws out, dremel a slot in the top so that you can later use a standard screwdriver to put your cube back together. That way you only have to do the pen trick once and then never again.

Either that or find a screw which matches up size and threading and just replace the whole thing.

This will make your life much easier for when you try to put it back together, and inevitably apart again...

That's exactly what I was going to say. I couldnt find any cut off wheels, so I used a hacksaw, which worked fine. Using the bic pen to take out the screws is fine, but don't plan on putting them back in with it smile.gif

u can find the same size torx screw and use it as a driver????maybe???
