Hi all,

Yeap you guessed it, I cocked up my EEPROM. I found a dodgy eeprom.bin out there on the net and now i get a error 13 everytime I boot up, the mod chip is turned on. Mod chip turned off the xbox does nothing, and dont even display anything either! eeek! Looked up what the error 13 means at is says the dash board cannot be found.

However I feel there may be some hope. I have made a boot disc, and it is possible to boot off a cd into evox. I can then FTP the xbox, but when it comes to accessing any of the partitions they all appear blank (except the dvd rom drive of course). Does this mean the HDD keys are wrong or something?

I have a backup of the original eeprom so I thought I could wack a copy of eeprommer on the boot disc as well and configure evox.ini to point to the D: drive and load eeprommer. This is where I have got stuck. When I try and load eeprommer it restarts the xbox and loads back in to evox from the cd.

HELP ME! have I just screwed up my xbox for good?

Do you know if it is possible to boot in to config magic and edit the eeprom on the fly?

You messed up very well blink.gif

But it's possible to repair.
As you say you can use config magic to restore your eeprom
from file or just edit it on the fly.
I hope you can see something on the screen.
Could be that the xbox is set to PAL/NTSC.
Therefore you can download a switch disk
which will let you blindly switch from PAL/NTSC.

If all that doesn't work you will have to flash
your eeprom manually... (don't ask me how)

I have dumped Config Magic and Evox on a cd. I can now boot in to Evox, but when it comes to running config magic it just restarts the xbox. Could it be that i can't read from the cd, or won't run from the cd for some reason. Looks like I might need to flash the EEPROM manually. Any one know of any turtorials??

You can use a debug bios, this one will boot even with a very bad eeprom.

You must have a mod chip programmer and at least 512kb flash size.
The Xecuter 2 Pro should work...

Never programmed the mod chip before, i ordered it pre programmed. So I dont really know what to do. I have tried what Scan-C told me, but that was unsuccessful, so I might try getting a debug bios. I have a few questions

1) I have Xecuter 2.1 Lite, can I attach a programmer? I believe this has two bios banks of 512kb.
2) Could I program the other bank and still keep the orignal bios on the mod chip?
3) How easy is it to flash a debug bios, what software is available?
4) What will the debug bios allow me to do?

1) It's possible to buy a programmer for the Xecuter 2.1 Lite
2) Yes you can do that, just boot off the banks you programmed with the debug bios.
3) I think the software for flashing is included with the programmer,
otherwise download it from the internet.
The debug bios can be found on xbins.
Complex 4627 v1.03 is the one I beleave.
4) The debug bios allows you to boot even if the eeprom is damaged.
It does more than only that, it's a bios for debugging, but I never
could try it because I only have a 256 Kb bios and at the moment
and no money to buy a Xecuter 2.2 Pro.

Will I be able to boot Config Magic with the Complex debug bios do you think? I have been trying with no success the xbox just reboots. I can boot Evox though. Any ideas what might be causing Config Magic to reboot?

I can't say for sure it will work. But it should because it's a debug bios.

If it won't work you will have to build a eeprom programmer.
The good thing is that you won't have to desolder the eeprom
and the schematic is very simple.
If you know a little about electronics and soldering you could try this.
It will almost cost you nothing if you have some old computer parts at home.
But when done wrong this could damage your xbox severely.

So try the debug bios first, this is the savest solution,
but it will cost you the $ 20 for the programmer,
which if it doesn't work you can always use to recover from a bad bios flash...

i have exactly the same problem, although something happened using the swap trick with my pc, and now i cant boot the xbox with my modchip turned off, i can turn my mod chip on and boot using an evox disk
and i have config magic on my hard disk, evox picks it up when it boots but i ttry to run configmagic, or any program that accesses my eeprom chip and it just reboots my xbox sad.gif and now the hotswap with pc dont work properly. i can get windows to recognise the drive, but hdd driver doesnt pick it up anymore......

i can still write to my drives fine after i boot into evox and ftp into it

I am in the same situation (f'd up my eeprom). I tried both my x2 pro and x2 lite with the Complex 4627 v1.03 debug bios but xbox will not boot with it. Just flashes green then off green then off then christmas lights. Xecutor bios still works, has anyone actually gotten the debug bios to boot on a messed up eeprom box? Any other debug bios alternatives?

Anyone seen a tutorial on how to build an eeprom writer that will not require me to remove the eeprom from the xbox?
