Chameleon Working Indication, strange behavior... Options

hi !

installed my chip correctly without the rivets solderless with adaptor.

The X at startup should be blue instead of original green if it was modded. the chip was shipped pre-flashed.

Didnt work so I tried to clean with alcohol.
It booted up modded this time. I started up with SUPERDISC 3.6 and installed evo-x (small drive option) onto my original hdd. (it copied the files and stuff)

Then I removed superdisc CD and rebooted my Xbox. It restarted itself 3 times in a row then just flashing red/green until I powered it down. Restarted again and the blue led began to light. then it stoped of slowly (not directly).
Now it only boots into MS dashboard with a green X instead of the modded blue one.
Have I erased the bios or what? Could it be the contact surface on lpc or d0 that is spooky? Could I just had luck that time with the contact?
I tried boot up my SUPERDISC CD-RW after the incident but it cannot read it.
I have tried realignement of the chip and the adapter and the d0 point.

Nothing flashes or indicates anything.
Everything seems to be as it was before the modding.
Could it be as easy as I must have the rivets shipped?

If it is intermintently booting from on board bios(Green X, Straight to MS dash)
It would seem your D0 is your problem. D0 being connected is what triggers the
Xbox to boot from the LPC(Chameleon).

Is there any good advises how to deal with the d0 point?

Because it might have come loose under the strain or something.

Well I havnt had the pleasure of using the adapter myself.
But I would say make sure the D0 is clean, sometimes there is
some varnish around the point, same varnish that coats the MB.

What bank did you flash with the blue bios, and what bank are you
booting from by default(based on the dip switch settings)??

under the whole procedure I had all the switches in off mode. bank 0 that is.
after it stoped working I changed the Dip modes but nothing happenes anyway.
I assume That the bios was flashed onto bank 0 too.

Well from the factory the Chameleon should have a second
copy of the cromwel bios on bank 1. The cromwel bios is what
makes the led on the Chameleon flash. If you set it to boot
to bank 1 by default and it boots MS dash, I would still say
D0 problem. If it boots and frags(flashes red and green) I would
say bad connection on one of the LPC points or messed up bios.

i would say, use a bios u know is good, and flipthe 4th dipswicth down to put it in mode one, then try reflashing it, if it doesnt boot then check your DO as noremorse said

How do I reflash the bios?
Do I need a programmer of some kind?
The bios that was shipped was executer 4977.

No you don't. I think most of us got our cham w/adapter flashed only with cromwell. Cromwell once booted (banks 1,2,3 for you hopefully) will allow you to flash from a disc. There are tuts on how to do this. Just hope when they flashed it they didnt wipe out all banks. good luck.

Correct me if I'm wrong here guys, but using the CD-R method for flashing (LINUXBIO.BIN) will always flash Bank 0, regardless of what mode you are in. This is a safety measure to prevent you from flashing one of the Cromwell bioses by accident, right?

Whenever my bios goes bad (another subject altogether), I switch to Mode 3, boot to Cromwell (Get blue flash LED), then insert the bios CD which flashes Bank 0. Then, I switch to Mode 0, which boots up the bios I just flashed.

If there is an easier way to do this, then somebody please tell me.

Now on another subject, using this exact method, I can't seem to get Evox D6 to flash. That is, the method seems to go through just fine, but rebooting (in Mode 0) brings up the MS logo, then EvolutionX dashboard. Things get even weirder after that.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

ok. thanks for the info here.

If I sense connectivity problems, is it wise to solder the lpc holes? backside of the mb then.
If I stick the adapter through the holes and then put a little solder on each hole.
Is that wise?

Besides that my xbox starts into MS dash in bank0 and frags in bank 1 and 2.
What is the matter. Sometimes it doesnt even bother to frag in banks 1 and 2.
Could this only be the d0 or could it be the lpc connection as well??

if your LPC holes are empty .. you either have to fill them or get the rivets ( recomended) .. where did you get the chip from ?

it came without the the rivets.

Why is it that when i tried to flash my Cham chip it never asked me to insert CD.It just have me some kind of error that it can't boot or some thing like that under the dvd-rom and hdd info.So i had to wait untill the BIOS was loading the items then, when it was about to select the dvd-rom i inserted my cd with a bios(LINUXBIOS.BIN) and it updated.When it restarted it rebooted 2 times then no video.

I flashed it how it came from the factory.No blue light anymore.So when i changed the mode to "1" down it started to work with X2 BIOS the one i flashed on.

I was wondering When flashed with any other BIOS does the LED flash blue cux i liked knowing if the chip was working.
