Our network looks like this.

user posted image

The side of PC2 is my side, the PC1 is the neighbors'. PC1 runs XLink messenger in WGN Mode, but only finds the right x-box. When i run xlink on pc2, my pc, it only finds == as expected == my x-box.

The left lan is on subnet 192.168.3.0/255.255.255.0
The wlan is on subnet 192.168.2.0/255.255.255.0
The right lan is on subnet 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0

Our subnets are routed by PC1 and PC2. My xbox can ping the other one, and of course that xbox can reach mine. We simply cant play together. It seems that xlink messenger has got trouble with multiple subnets.
Or am i wrong with my assumption?

Thanx in advance

btw. replacing that wlan with a regular lan and making this one big subnet is not an option. Why else would we've chosen for expensive wlan if we could blink.gif

On PC1 , create an XP Network bridge between the Real NIC and the WLAN NIC - *DONT* include the USB NIC (if there is one) in the bridge.. Then ensure that ICS (or whatever u use ) know to use the Virtual Bridge adapter as the Local NIC for ICS..

On PC2, do the same.. create a bridge between LAN and WLAN.

Set PC1's bridge IP to 192.168.0.1 , subnet 255.255.0.0

Either:

a.) Set all other pc's / xboxes to DHCP,

or better,

b.) Manually assign IP's to all other xboxes / pc's in the 192.168.x.x range... *ALL ON SUBNET 255.255.0.0*

Reboot everything, starting with PC1..

Run XLink on PC1 .. both xboxes will detect as local..

Job done.. (and u can then also use normal syslink together)

TD

Yah we got it working earlier by bridging those connections. But there's one problem: the LAN is 100 mbit and the WLAN is 54 mbit. When we bridge those, the speed is awful [i'm talking about less than 10 kBps]. I've heard it could've been the wireless drivers that were crappy, but better ones aint available.

Oh, and the routing functions will be disabled if everything is on the same subnet.
