i know how to change it in the emulator but where would i go about downloading it and where would i ftp it to?

There are many sites where you can get sid tunes, just search for it.
My favourite musical scene-artist, Maktone, is hosting all his works on
www.maktone.tk, download his tunes there.

Just FTP them to the sid folder in you xSnes9x directory.
