I have forwarded ports 34518 and 34519 and took down my firewall. When I run it on xbox it just hangs on "awaiting connection..."

What could I have done wrong?

I'm connected to my xbox via a Linksys router.

I just tried XBC-LINK as an alternative... That doesn't work either.

Could someone take a look at my test results and give me some suggestions to help me fix this problem?

Make sure your XBox subnet is the same as your PC subnet ... ie 255.255.0.0 or whatever..

If they differ, change the XBOX one to match the PC one, not vice versa..

I changed my xbox subnet to my PC one (it was blank on the xbox).

That still didn't do it... It still hangs on "awaiting connection..."

In Evox, the Gateway and DNS are left blank.. could that possibly be the problem?

you should have these set to whatever they are for the pc's network settings.

Ie, if the pc has an address like 192.168.0.4 and subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.0.1, then the xbox should be exactly the same except for the ip, which obviously should be different.

I dont think DNS makes a difference in this case.

The XBOX probably has DHCP turned on?? If so, try turning it off and assigning the xbox an ip ... like 192.168.0.3 or whatever.. with the same subnet as ure PC..

DNS, i would just leave blank.. gateway, try blank, but may need to set to ure PC IP - or as jz28 says, whatever ure PC has it set to..

Ok.. I put in the subnet, gateway, and DNS (didn't touch the ip).

It still hangs at the "awaiting connection..." screen.

I even tried XB-LINK. That didn't work either... unsure.gif

I always use static ip because I can't seem to FTP with DHCP on. 192.168.0.3 has been my xbox ip since the beginning.

I log into xlink every time before attempting to connect to bo-xlink. I even log into the website before, even though I’m not sure if that's necessary...

OK.. well, the netx thing to check is that you dont have the XP firewall turned on for the LAN connection... not the Internet connection - the *LAN* connection...

Basically, bo-xlink sends out broadcast packets - and something is stopping these landing on the PC... so a firewall is a possible culprit...

I have windows ME. I turned off my router firewall (DMZ). Is there some ME firewall I don't know about?

Stick to what you are trying to get working...dont use xbc link if you are trying to get boxlink and xlink working.

There is no windows me firewall, unless you have installed something like norton internet security or something.

I would go back and read the evox tutorials and stuff to get all your network settings straight... Sounds like you have a bit of confusion about all this.

See, boxlink pretty much just "works" when your xbox is configured properly to the network its connected to.

also, this isnt a problem with your WAN connection (internet) but a problem with your pc <--> xbox connections. So unless you have a hub or something with both on the wan connection (Bad), then its something with the way your pc and xbox are configured.

I am an extreme newbie and I am sure I am soon to have these problems. But first, I have xlink on my computer running with a xtag. I have downloaded bo-xlink. I have connected to my xbox in the past and put files on there. I understand I am meant to put bo-xlink on my xbox but Im not sure where. Sorry for how much of a basic question this is but I couldnt find the answer anywhere.

Thank you.
