what is the best setting to have the fan speed on? Can the higher speeds mess up my fan?

I doubt it will mess up your fan. It makes your xbox louder yes, but if you dont care, turn it to 50 or so...I believe its set at 20 now, no?

EDIT: I havent played with the fan setting..since I have a 80mm..but look at the topic with 2 pages full of info.

I believe the fan runs at 12 volts whatever speed you set it. The Xbox uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to rapidly switch it on and off.
CODE

Voltage waveform @ 0% duty cycle (fan speed)
12V
 0V____________________

Voltage @ 20%:-
12V__              __
 0V    ________    ________

Voltage on 40%:-
12V____           ____
 0V        ______       ______

Voltage on 60%:-
12V______       ______
 0V           ____           ____

Voltage on 80%:-
12V________    ________
 0V               __              __

Voltage on 100%:-
12V____________________
 0V

The higher the speed setting though, the shorter the lifespan of the fan (if it's designed to run for 1 billion revolutions, then if you run it twice as fast it'll only run half as long).

I have about 50-55C on cpu. Think itīs a pretty normal value.
