Try out some of the great skins out there. Like the Tivo MXM skin, the architect, and some of flex's skins come into mind right now.

My tweaker steps for conversion was like this.

Run MXM as an app through EvoX
Install cool looking skins for MXM
Play around with mxm.xml file to config it the way I wanted it including autolaunches and network settings
Play around with menu.xml file to get my menu just the way i liked it.
Play with preview videos and thumbnails
Test FTP speeds and settings
Convert to mxm as default dash.

But keep in mind most of these "manual" steps to edit xmls will soon be handled by the new UI in the works by BenJeremy.

Windows media 9 format crashes MXM. Windows media 8 format works fine. Try converting your video.

Why do you only public WIPs?

When to you think, you will public a new release?

WIPs are non-public because I don't want a ton of experimental copies being distributed around the net causing all sorts of support nightmares.

As for the next public release, things are proceeding nicely, but it boils down to how much time I have to put into the code that enables all the stuff planned for the next release.

On the configuration front, things are looking pretty good - I've got a lot of help with some talented people writing scripts. some great scripts/dialogs are being made, so once I finalize the "plug-and-play" some real progress should happen in a short time on that front. The same thing goes with the filemanager (scripts have more power than anything similar on the Xbox, even Nexgen's LUA) - for that, I need to wrap up the listbox control.

That's my primary aim at the moment. When will all the behind-the-scenes stuff be done? Maybe a week to enable the WIP Scripters to go to town on the new stuff they can provide.

I'd say two weeks, maybe three on the outside would be an optimistic estimate.

bj, this may have been answered already, but are you planning on adding some kind of infrastructure to MXM that allows developers to expand MXM through code? perhaps some plugin skinning capabilities or actionscripts?

EDIT: To clarify, by code, I mean actually compiled code.

Yes, but it may not happen for "o" - I need time to make sure it will work fine, and also to figure out all the hooks.

This isn't a bug report..

Just a thanks you for all your time and effort. All your giving and caring for the community and what people want.

It's a lot of work that you give... expecting only a thank you and some respect, in return..

I do appreciate and much respect the work you do.

Thank you.

I'm obviously not using MXM enough, or in not enough crazy ways, cuz I haven't seen any new bugs in a long time.

Anyway, a request.

In automenu, could you remove the ... after each menu item.

For example, it currently looks like this:

Games...
Apps...
Dashboards...

Which I don't find very athestically pleasing. I suggest:

Games
Apps
Dashboards

It's especially a problem when you choose to add the dashboard menu to an already existing menu.xml menu layout, it looks out of place.

Nitpicking for sure, but thought I'd toss it out there.
