I don't know if something like this has been covered, but I did not find anything with various searches.
Anyway, when I modded my xbox, I had to swap a dvd drive from my friends xbox who had already modded his xbox. My Thomson drive did not accept any disc that we tried. Now my brother is coming home from school and wants me to mod his xbox. If all fails and his drive will not read discs, can I swap any dvd drive in just to install the software needed? After that, I can just ftp in fopr anything that i need to put on and use the original drive for my original games. |

Hi there,
It should be OK. Just as a check, try using a couple of different bands of CD-RW's. You might find one that works on your drive and and the same with your brothers XBox.  Hope that helps... |

fujis have always for for me on even the pickiest thomson drives, memerex works well too

yes dvd swaps work. b4 u give up on your thompson try the pot tweak and also try using diff. media and brands.
