If your ftp is 'too slow' then theres obviously a issue. I transfer to my xbox at 7MB/s, so putting them on a drive is more of a hassle than its worth.
I think you need to fix whats broke before you start wondering about alternatives.
If not, look up xcommander or boxplorer. Both will do the job...find a doc on it.

Ok, I have Boxplorer, how do I copy it to put it on my Hard drive.
have you even read anything for it? tried anything yet? cmon you can do it, it's really easy
I have read plenty and I do know how to do it but I just want to make sure before I do it. I know the question I asked was not that difficult to anwser but I am just not that smart in the field of installing Emu's and Roms to a HD. I have accomplished completing many other things to my xbox but All I asked for was a little insurance in what I was told to do. If you do not want to help me then please leave your comments to yourself, thankyou.

my system ups to the xbox @ 10mb and it DL from the xbox @ 15-20 depending of course on the file. of course i have my network down to the Subnet Mask and broadcast IP on both xbox and system. i really should have quoted the guy who posted the thread, if you are copying like say NES emu where you have tons of small shitty files... then you will see a major decress in speed and only pull about 300kbs up or down. not the wonderful 10mb like i do.
PS: to set the correct values on your network. go to this site and enter your network class and optimise your network.
