I have an Xbox with a W49F020T chip. The connections I made (I opted for the one on the top and one on the bottom method) are rock solid. A multimeter test confirms this. At first EvoX was giving me 09 00 error, so I got the flash definitions from Raincoat .5 and put them in. After that, it recognized it but failed to flash. I searched the forums and found out that for this kind of chip I need to use Raincoat as EvoX will not work.

A tutorial here:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?act...T&f=43&t=119253
implies that I must use 007_tsop_flash_kit_1_0_alpha6.zip, and that the other packages will not work. I have no idea where to get this from, it's not on the homebrew software FTP server. They have something called 007savewithraincoat.zip. Will this work instead?

I also note that a lot of people seem to be fragging when trying to flash this chip, even experienced solderers and other people who shouldn't be making mistakes. I know that I can only use EvoX 4979 or M7. Are there any additional issues here I need to be watching out for?

007savewithraincoat will work, but make sure you update it to the latest version of raincoat, .501

right-click, save target as

replace the files "raincoat" and "raincoat.conf" (i think they are in 000000000//raincoat)

Only question I have with this is...is your box a 1.0 or 1.1?

If it's a 1.2+, you might have soldered the same point even though you soldered top and bottom. Two sets of points on 1.2's through 1.5's are electrically identical....so there is a possibility if it's one of these versions you soldered the same point twice!

Now, I would definately get raincoat .501 and try that, but if that doesn't work and you do have a 1.2 or higher, do the second top point and then try it.

If you do have a 1.0 or 1.1....good luck with raincoat .501 wink.gif
