While we did outspend them, it was not by a wide margin. The military budgets cited by the USSR (about 30 billion) were always regarded as an extreme low-ball, with the US figuring that it was at least 10 times that amount. What brought down the USSR was Gorbachev himself. He realized that the Communist party in Russia was too corrupt, and that they were hurting the russian people by not participating in the new global economy. That's why perestroika was initiated soon after he took office, and the USSR collapsed soon thereafter.

This thread should be gone but everyone of age to vote should look into some of these issues and place and educated vote - Our govt is militarizing space and setting back human rights at an amazing pace and for the sake of future generations everyone needs to try and curb this hegemony.

Go look into party platforms and decide what you agree with before you vote
