im using a router, and so all connected computers are assigned a local ip like 192.168.0.XXX

how do i play games with a friend from another house using direct ip?? for example, halo on pc. using the ip i get from going to www.danasoft.com doesnt work.

if you are behind a router with a firewall, then you cant host a server, as the firewall blocks the signal

you can try using your network ip, which easiest way to find is to go to:

Control Panel -> Network Connection -> (whatever NIC is connected to the router)

double click that nic, and under the support tab will be a set of IP addresses

the oen you want is the 192.168.x.x ip, and try to have your other bud connect to that ip
