I have an original copy of bmx xxx and when I copy it to the HD and try to play it I am getting an error message. The error says that the disk is dirty or damaged but that cannot be the case it is coming off of the HD .... The game plays fine when played from the DVD anyone have any ideas what can be causing this?

Sounds like missed a file when you copied it over.

I don't believe I asked for pricks to respond with their review of the game. I simply asked about why it is doing this. What is pissing me off is the fact that I tried to play a couple other games and they are doing the same thing...Better start checking my cables.

Well, gee, I so dreadfulllllyyyyy sorry, sir.

I should have realized that your problem was so unique, so incredible, so profound, so earth-shattering that we should drop all sense of humor (or humour, as our friends across the pond would say) and immediately wait on bated breath for further details so that we might help you.

The fact of the matter is, nobody here can look over your system through a keyboard and monitor. Your problem, had more people cared, would have been responded with by a bunch of people saying "works for me, maybe you missed a file or something"

Chances are, had you done a search on "dirty disc" you'd have found a TON of messages that look just like yours, and probably found the solution (loose cable?) in one of the threads.

Ben of your 6XX or so posts how many have actually answered a problem or fixed a problem. This board has been deteriorating over the last few months and it is members such as yourself who are to blame. I miss the days when someone had an issue and people with knowledge answered it. I was only having the problem with BMX XXX and had yet to see anyone post any info about it. I went home at lunch today (I work, you know, have a job, so I can't spend all day posting like you) and swapped the HD only to get the same error. I reconnected the old HD and tried a different game and it did the same thing. That has lead me to believe it is the cable. I didn't find any info about it when I searched I just concluded that this must be the case and decided to post what I believed it might be in case someone with some knowledge stumbled across this thread and could possibly point me in the right direction.

Calling people "pricks" isn't going to win you any friends, nor any help.

I haven't run BMXXXX yet, and merely posted a humorous response to another poster's message.

The proper thing to do, in the absence of knowledge here, was to post in Gamer's Chat, to see if anybody else had experienced a similar problem - AFTER doing your fair share of homework (which you eventually did, after starting a thread here).

On a simple search for "Dirty Disc" I found a ton of responses, some of them relating to HD issues. If you didn't find the solution there, a polite PM would have probably elicited a response.

What's causing the board to go downhill (if it is, that's YOUR opinion), is the influx of demanding newbies who treat every little hiccup as an emergency, and this board as their personal service center, and crapping in any forum they see fit to ask their problem, then getting huffy if an answer isn't posted within 10 minutes.

What about thanking poor Nailed for responding. Doesn't he get any thanks or respect for responding in the way you desired? I need to back BJ up on the "do your homework" blurb. But also, how about try sh!t yourself. What have *you* done to remedy or troubleshoot the issue. You've made a start with the "Well the DVD plays fine... blah blah". Now we're all guilty (myself included) of posting a question w/o doing as much as we could have on our own (if anything at all). But it's funny how you took the effort to respond to BJ's response instead of posting everything you've done or every detail (as you later add on that other games are having the problem as well). (Maybe it's a bad cable, bad dvd drive, bad hard drive, pilot error, etc), what did you use to copy, boXplorer (my personal choice), xbcopy, osmosis, etc.. I again agree with BJ on the what's really "ruining" the board.. granted, I kind of don't really care because I just weed past the bullsh!t, so to each his own...

Also, other things to think of.. did it ever work? if so when did it stop working? (after you f'ed with the insides and you really shouldn't have been?). Is the hd a new drive or one you had laying around? Does it make any noises? does it smell funny? (ok, I'm kidding on the last one)..
