My girlfriend wanted to possibly get an Xbox as a cheaper alternative region-free DVD player, and sometimes play the odd game of Dr. Mario on it. I'd like to help her out with this, and we saw some cheap special edition Xboxes for sale out here (about ¥11800.) My question is about how difficult it would be. Has anyone tried doing it with Japanese versions of Mechassault and the like? I'd consider getting a chip, but I've botched soldering before, and she won't be needing it for Live or anything.
I've got a modded box out here right now, so I can use that for things like transferring save files, but it's going back to the states in March with me.
Any help would be appreciated.
