I've recently had a mod chip and 60 gig HD installed into my Xbox - unfortunately I couldn't begin to tell what software versions, bios, or even what type of chip is in there (they were installed for me, not by me...).
Since having the chip and HD installed, my Xbox (well, Avalaunch actually) doesn't load properly when turned on... Sometimes the green logo begins and freezes, other times the X changes from green to blue but the text for Avalaunch doesn't scroll across it and it freezes... On rare occasion the light around the eject button blinks red and green. In order to get the Xbox/Avalaunch to load properly (if at all) I've got to turn the Xbox off and then back on again using either the power or eject buttons - after a few tries it loads properly and all is well again. The freezing and not loading seems to happen after the Xbox has been off for a few hours... Once I've managed to load it successfully I can turn it off and on all I want and it doesn't seem to freeze again until it's left off for a couple hours... My question(s) is/are: Is this happening to anyone else? Is there an easy fix? Is the problem going to get worse? I can live with having to try a couple times to load the Xbox at first, but I'm just worried it's gonna get to the point where it doesn't work at all... Actually I've got one more question as well... I seem to recall reading a few posts from people saying the HD begins to screw up when it's almost full - games not loading, freezing, etc... Is this the case? I've got about 30gig of space left without having to repartition anything to find more, but I'm curious if I should leave some of this space empty or fill 'er up? I've honestly read through the Newbie posts and faqs to try to find the answers to these q's, but without the search feature on the site (which never seems to work when I try it) I can never find what I'm looking for without having to look through 1000's of posts. Thanks! |

I have the same problem can any1 pls help? i have searched and searched these forums and found no solutions -
my xbox is a 1.0/1.1, chipped with Apple X pro (bios unknown - chip is not flashable, used slayers to try to id it and it comes up with unknown). what happens is this: Sometimes my xbox will boot into evox dash - but most often it will hang at the orange xbox logo (indicating it is mod mode) and go no further - it just hangs there and no error msgs are reported. After i have had the xbox on for awhile, it will work usually boot fine without freezing. If it has been off for 2 or more hrs it will freeze at the orange logo. I have chipped 100's of ps2's so i am no amature solderer, i have also rechipped this xbox 6 times and rechecked all points - i have auto installed slayers 2.5 and reformatted and reinstalled many times withoutr change. Can someone pls help?????? This post has been edited by valakos: Feb 15 2004, 12:37 AM |

first off, i recomend updating your bios if it isnt an up to date one.
also check the d0 point from the solder job, if its a solderless chip, make sure its tightened down all the way. also make sure your power cable that goes into the hdd, i have had a similar problem because my hdd kept shutting down then starting back up so quickly that it wouldnt quit but freeze instead. if you have any kind of power splitter that goes into the hdd you should pull it out, i noticed that that was another problem i had |

I've got the same problem list above. I'm not sure what is causing it, but have tried removing games from the F: partition to free up some space, which helped a little bit. I am now current on my bios as of yesterday, but that didn't seem to help the problem. Any suggestions on what to do? I do get tired of waiting up to 10 minutes for an app to launch.

My friends got their xbox done with the apple x pro (not by me) and I recently loaded Avalaunch for them to use since they were with the original dash still and now their xbox has a error 16 about the dashboard, I set Avalaunch as xboxdash.xbe and renamed the original dash to msxboxdash.xbe and I tried using Avalaunch from a cdrw and slayers so I could rename the xbe files back but I cant get anything to boot from the drive, is there a way to fix this.
==EDIT== nm, I just took my original xbox drive that I had stored away and replaced theirs with it since I couldnt browse their drive. This post has been edited by rmorris003: Feb 16 2004, 07:42 PM |
