Even though I appear to have the correct ROM line in the .ini and the
CURRENT = line matches the checksum ok, I still get an UNKNOWN bios in the
evox menu. This is for the X2 4979.06 REPACK bios.
Any idea's?
OR does the bios have to be programmed via evox in order for it to display ok (it was flashed via the original cormwell bios).

TIA
Texy

Try opening the bios in XBTOOL and chack the MD5. Make sure it matches EXACTLY what you have in evox.ini.

I've had the same issue, and have played with many different options with regard to RC5's from XBtool & Current =.... I've tried Evox M7, X2 4979.06/07.... No luck.

I was asking someone on IRC about this problem the other night, and he/she didn't have an answer either.

It may be to do with PBL?

I do not know if this helps, but this is what I did :

1.- Open my current Bios with Xbox Tool
2.- Copied the Bios string of 32 letters and numbers in the info
3.- Add the line in evox ini under Bios
lets say I got this string
BIOS 2cea660eaa83a332881534a13f4a3960
I just added on the Bios section of my evox Ini :
Rom= "Insertnameofbios",0x2cea660eaa83a332881534a13f4a3960

I used Xboxtool 1.0.14

This works for me everytime.
Hope this helps.

PBL? sorry, I do not know what PBL stands for, so I do not know...

I programmed the bios to the mod (Matrix) from evox dashboard.

I used bios 4981.67 (modificated boot secuences and colors 3 times, and everytime I update the bios string on the ini, they got recognized by evox)

Anyway, I do not know if having the name recognized in evox have a reason to be other than just satisfy our ego (mine was smile.gif ) of having the name displayed on the Dashboard setup...
