i don't understand this,
are you saying that you power on XBOX and when clock looping you unplugged the IDE Cable? and then plug another IDE from working XBOX?

thats hot-swapping. The plan usually is to get it to boot to the dashboard or a game so the xbox can unlock the hard drive.

after unlocked, you have to unplug the ide cable. Dont' unplug the hard drive's power cable, or it will lock again.

Then plug an ide cable from your computer to the xbox's hdd and turn on your pc (or just hit refresh in the device manager if you are like me). If windows detects the hard drive, then you've successfully hot swapped your xbox hard drive

and then you go on to do like fatxplorer and upload your exploit etc

CMIIW, I understand what hotswap is, but from what i understand is the XBOX cannot load M$Dashboard because it's never ending reset.

how come he could do hotswap when the dashboard can't even loaded?

What about 5101, what can be done with that kernel. I am trying to get the audio exploit working and I just want to double check that its possible on my K version.

About hotswapping:

The hard drive is unlocked from the moment th MS logo appears under the big X logo. The dashboard is on the hard drive, and the hard drive has to be unlocked to access it. When it's looping, the dashboard IS loading, but it's just basically crashing.

About kernels:

That's not true. The font and audio exploits work on kernel 5101, but you have to have dash 4920. Here's what we know about 5xxx kernels:

- 5530 and above will not allow you to use PBL to load a BIOS
- 5713 and above will not allow you to downgrade the dash to 4920

my other Q:

5713 is above 5530, does this mean we can't use PBL to load bios, with 5713??
may i conclude that i have to avoid buying xbox with kernel 5530 and above, if i want to do exploit with it???

Yep. You won't be able to run PBL on 5713.

Mostly. You can exploit 5530, but you can't run PBL. You'd be able to run games/apps if you you signed them all with xbedump. However, you wouldn't be able to upgrade the hard drive.

Yes, you can run any dashboard exploit, and you can run PBL. To run an exploit, be sure to downgrade to dash 4920 first.

To do that, you can follow these instructions:

This is for a virgin C: drive. If you have other files on C:, then you'll have to know what they are and keep them where they are (don't delete them in step 4, or back them up and then replace them).

3. Back up your entire Xbox C: partition.

6. Reboot and confirm that you now have a working copy of Dashboard 4920 (System Info). Do NOT skip this step and start installing exploits right away.
7. Now you can go and install any exploits you want.
