I'm thinking about getting this burner from http://www.shop4tech.com/user.htm?go=view_...&cata=3&s_cata= but I have never had a (OEM Bare Drive) before. What is the difference between a bare oem drive and one I buy from say BestBuy. I know the oem drive doesn't come with any burning software but what about the drivers will it come with them or not.

Thanks for your help later

I just ordered a 107 from Newegg yesterday, $140 shipped to my door. This burner has been getting good reviews and can now burn 4X media @ 8X with the new patch that was released.

you shouldn't need any drivers

it also won't have cables, mine came with a bundled nero 6

i wouldn't buy retail again...only oem(bare drive) for me.

I also only buy OEM hardware. I don't need manuals. Drivers can be downloaded. I'll choose the software I want...no bundled shit for me.

With respect to DVD burners specifically, no drivers are needed, as mentioned. You'll need a free IDE connector and power connector, which should already be in your computer. The only other thing you really need is software that supports the burner, but even buying a license for the latest Nero/Sonic/Stomp/Veritas/Alcohol/etc software is cheaper than the price difference between OEM and retail.
