I recently burned the entire GoodGen set (0.999.8) to a DVD-R to play on Neogenesis.

I boot up the emulator and go to the DVD-ROM directory and the ROMs show up. Whenever I run a .bin ROM it starts up the Sega CD emulation, (this was in the FAQ), so I try to run a .smd or .zip ROM and the screen acts like it's loading (shows the picture of the Genesis 3), but then it kicks me back out to the ROM selection screen.

I know the ROMs are good. Is it just not possible to run them off of a DVD-R?

I run my games off dvd-r, and I don't any problems with any of them.

You might want to check to see whether they even run off the HDD first, sounds like something's messed up somehow.
