hey guys,
I was just wondering, is it possible to shut down and start the xbox with the controller without installing a switch? I was just wondering if it were possible to wire together a couple buttons in a series (say back and right trigger) so that when those two are pushed simultaneously the ground connection is made with the xbox and it will start up/shut down? I don't really want to install a seperate button (it looks crappier to me)
It doesnt matter what button combinations are used either.. as long as the chances of me using them in a game or application are very low... ie, i dont want it to be left trigger and right trigger... everytime i aim to shoot in medal of honor i would shut down instead.. hah not good
if u guys have any ideas i would like to hear them! thanks

no no sorry if i wasnt clear
I want it to shut down and turn on the xbox similar to igr where when a button combination is pressed.. it does its job, i didnt want to install a separate button into my controller for turning on and off

This is just one mans opinion, but wouldnt it be possible to turn the buttons into one big switch? like connect the yellow wire to where button X sends firing signals... then where button X gets its ground wire to button Y and do the same until you have all the buttons you want to hit in combination and then wire the last buttons ground to the ground on the controller... so when you press them all at once it creates a closed loop and turns your xbox on/off
I have no idea if/how this would work, but its just a theory i'v been plotting

that is exactly what I was thinking actually I was just wondering if in theory it would work cause if it did.. I would prefer that to a separate button.. no getting pissed and throwing the controller and shutting down ur xbox and causing more anger for this guy
I am just having troubles seeing where the ground on those buttons are cause the trigger is covering it.. and i cant figure out how to take the trigger out without unsoldering and i dont want to unsolder it for nothing

that is a great idea. i don't know how to do it, but it sounds like it should work. what you could do tho if you dont like a big ugly switch is wire a switch under the jewel on the controller so you dont see it. that would be pretty cool i think

cool idea, only prob is when you throw your controller on the floor while bouncing it inputs B,X,white, back,L,black and your xbox powers down your screwed!! ok so what if that will never happen.

meh just wanna do something new is all
I tried the mod... sort of a problem... when I start up my xbox everything runs fine, (right now i am just testing with one button) when I press the button the xbox resest.. if I press and hold the button the xbox shuts off.. but when i press the button while the xbox is off it does not do anything.. same with when i press and hold
now the other problem is.. if the xbox is in the off state and I plug the controller into the xbox it will turn it on.. and when i shut the xbox off using the power button on the xbox... it just turns right back on.. any ideas on whats goin on here? did i maybe use the wrong ground on the button?
