OK I am a Dick!!!! Installed an Aladdin Advance Pro with X2 4977 bios into a version 1.4 xbox....

OK yes TRUE 4977 bios does not work with 1.4 or 1.5 XBOX.....

But HOW do I reflash the chip while it is installed ?? to make the XBOX work again.

Cause my solder skills SUCK I don't want to try to un-install it and even then I still do not know how (or have the equipment) to FLASH an Aladdin while uninstalled....

any help appreciated

TAzZie.....

Follow these directions here....skip step 2 (the aladdin is a 256Kb mod, not 1024Kb like the X2).

The process is simple, burn the first disc, burn the second disc (according to the directions).

Input the first disc, turn off the xbox, turn on the xbox....you won't see any display....just wait. After 30-90 seconds the dvd-rom tray will eject, put the second disc in the tray DO NOT CLOSE THE TRAY, it will auto-close after 30 seconds. After another 30-90 seconds the disc will pop out, remove it and 30 seconds later the xbox will power off. Turn the xbox back on and it will have been flashed to the new bios as long as you did everything correctly.

PM me if you have questions

Its important that you follow the directions closely, do not close the dvd-rom tray after inserting the second disc.

If the SST49LF020 chip is in a socket, you could remove it and program it externally, or swap a new programmed one in there.

If not, then you're SOL, and will need to unsolder your chip.
