Alright,


Well I went ahead and flashed my Samsung 616t with the 605b firmware. I hooked it up using the pc dvd drive method, and it worked!

It can read all media including ORIGINAL GAMES! I have not heard of anyone else accomplishing this, although I am not saying I am the first. If you have, post in here and let me know how it went.

However, I am not going to leave it like this, as it is a pain in the ass to eject it, and then force it to go back in, and then reboot the xbox everytime I want to play a game. So, what have you all experienced with this?

First of all take it easy posting... You've created at least three separate threads!

What do you mean by the "pcd dvd drive method"? I assume you reversed the laser, soldered the appropriate wires, ie the works...
The alternative IIRC was to install it together with the existing drive?

In the first case, I think it is supposed to read originals.
In the second, you're supposed to use the original drive for original games.

In any case, congrats and good for you, but give some more specifics on the installation.
