I just got an xbox and modded it last Friday, and started poking around here.. let me start out by saying what an awesome community that xbox tinkerers have, and I'm glad to be a part of it now! biggrin.gif

Now, moving along to the question, I'm no n00b to emu (I can still remember when snes emulators didn't have sound.. wink.gif ) but I'm still rather new to xbox emulation.

emus on xbox (well, emus on any platform) can't get certain games to run, while others work great. I'm not complaining here! My point is, why not make a database of which games run 100%, which games have problems, fixes for those problems, and which games don't run at all, kind of like the threads about pcsxbox, mame-x, surreal64, etc., only dynamic and publicly writeable?

Just a thought- I'd be willing to host a cgi database (my hosting only allows 1 sql database, and it's currently in use sad.gif ), if you guys think it would be worthwhile!

Cheers,
error

Welcome to the scene Error (nice ref., BTW)
I don't mean to call you out, but you're talking about a lot of work for something that doesn't have as much use as you might currently believe. While Surreal 64, PCSXBox, and maybe a few scant other emus have spotty support, the other won't need it.
The other issue is apparent from the compatibility threads, that there are just too many factors with those emus. For instance, I've heard a lot of people having issues with Surreal that other people just can't recreate. The factors such as different BIOS people are using, their dashboard, even possibly the dashboard skin could affect how well Majora's Mask works, I'm not sure.
There's also the fact that support wavers between updates, when you look at PCSXBox. Some games that worked with version 1 no longer do so, I've heard.
When it comes down to it, I'd love to be able to know which games will work before I look into trying, but the trial and error it takes to see if it works wouldn't provide that much of a service to necessitate an online database, esp. not one that would require so much work.

Error was always my favorite mysterious video game character laugh.gif Yeah, I never thought about how "non-standardized" (for lack of a better term) xbox stuff is, so compatibility would be almost on a per-person basis, like you mentioned. Maybe I'll just throw one together for fun sometime for pcsxbox, maybe even just a static page that's a compilation of the thread, since that one seems the most interesting to me biggrin.gif

I've been reading 'em all weekend, I think I'm slowly getting up to speed! smile.gif

In all honesty, this is not a bad question, or idea. The problem is, that you have to do a LOT of changes when new versions come out. Since the interface would most likely be web, there's no quick and easy way to do it.

I think the consensus was it would be more work than it's worth. I would use it though if there was one.
