Cc Tube Inverter Problems, funny burning smell Options

I installed a cold cathode tube in my xbox jewel and its been working fine for the past couple weeks, but last night I smelt something burning in my room and after close examination I found its the inverter for the cc tube.
I have the inverter behind my dvd drive so I was thinking it might possibly be lack of ventilation.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions??
