Evox Skins Not Working?How to fix the problem.I've noticed a large number of posts about this subject so I just wanted to clear up how to get your Evox skins working properly. I'm posting this in the main Evox Forum rather than the Skinning Forum just because this Forum seems to get more traffic and it will probably be more visible here. If you have uploaded skins to your Xbox and they do not appear in your skins list or when you select them they do not show up correctly, make sure to follow the following steps in order to get the skin(s) working properly. 1.) Unzip or Unrar the SkinUse a program (I recommend WinRAR) to unzip/unrar the downloaded skin. In some cases you will see only a folder in the RAR/ZIP file. In this case just extract that file to your PC. In other cases you will see two or more files (one or two graphic files and a "skin.ini" rile -- sometimes a readme TXT or HTML file). In this case create a folder on your PC that has the EXACT name of the RAR/ZIP file or skin name. If the skin is called "EvoxBlue" then call your folder "EvoxBlue" using the same uppercase/lowercase letters. Then simply extract the RAR/ZIP files into that directory you have created. 2.) Upload Skin(s)Upload the extracted skin(s) to your Xbox. Put them into the following directory: C:\Skin ------- It's that simple! If you have any further problems then check your skin.ini file to make sure the following names (shown in bold) are all identical: | QUOTE | SkinName "Evox1","Evox1"
[Skin_Evox1]
Text = 30,37,0.5,0x000000,0,"<Time>" Text = 28,39,0.5,0x808080,0,"<Time>"
Text = 620,420,0.5,0x000000,1,"<Name> V<Version>" Text = 618,422,0.5,0x808080,1,"<Name> V<Version>"
Text = 620,37,0.5,0x000000,1,"<CD>" Text = 618,39,0.5,0x808080,1,"<CD>"
Text = 30,420,0.5,0x000000,0,"<RDName>" Text = 28,422,0.5,0x808080,0,"<RDName>"
LogoType= 3
Main = "\skin\Evox1\evox1.jpg" #Launch = "\skin\Evox\launch.jpg"
BarColor1 = 0x100903 BarColor2 = 0xF3DB91 BarAlpha = 0.5 MenuColor1 = 0xF3DB91 MenuColor2 = 0xD40C02 |
If any of those three occurances of the skin name are not exactly the same name as the folder the skin is in then the skin will not work (and you will most likely just get the default skin for Evox).
-------
To the best of my knowledge this is the best method for fixing Evox skin problems. If anyone has anything to add to this list (or sees anything wrong with my technical explanations of the problems) please post here or PM me and I will change it to keep this guide up to date.

I have an issue. I just a skin named ArkX because it wasn't working. All of my other skins worked previous to me deleting ArkX. I rebooted my XBOX after deleting ArkX and all of a sudden Digipanel doesn't display correctly, and I get plain default skin. Here's a link to my skins ini file. | QUOTE | # Ultra-X_DiGiPaNeL skin.ini created with EvoX Skinner 1.2.7 # Skin design by MomDad on #xbins EFNet

A picture of my skins directory How the skin looks I know that this skin should work. I have already informed Team EvoX. and they have no clue how to reproduce this annoyance to say the least. I have also been flammed by some idiot over there. Looks like no one wants to help fix this annoying little bug. If you're reading this and want to help encourage Team EvoX to fix this bug . post over at the official EvolutionX forums under my thread, here

Excellent tutorial chefelf, but it doesn't quite cover the problem described in this thread: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=128856Like issues_i3oy mentioned above, I've had skins that worked just fine, then after adding/deleting other skins, that particular skin won't work (just get the original EvoX skin). Also mentioned in the thread listed above, I use an EvoX boot disc to copy all my files onto client's xboxes after I've installed a modchip (this includes a skin directory with about 20 skins). Some xboxes will display certain skins, and others won't. Absolutely nothing has changed (skin directory name, skin name, skin ini, evox settings, evox ini, etc) between these as these are all copied from the same disc. It's a very strange problem with which there seems to be no solution. And as you can see from the thread listed above, it seems as though there are quite a few people experiencing this. Just thought I would mention this... *edit* issues_i3oy: after looking at the ini file for you skin, I'm surprised that it even worked for you at all. As chefelf mentioned above, your SkinName, Skin_, and the directory that it's saved in should all have the same name - which I've noticed your's doesn't. Try editing the references to 'Ultra-X_DiGiPaNeL_v2' to just 'DiGiPaNeL_v2'. ..................................................................................... SkinName "Ultra-X_DiGiPaNeL_v2","Ultra-X_DiGiPaNeL_v2" [Skin_Ultra-X_DiGiPaNeL_v2] Main = "\skin\DiGiPaNeL_v2\main.jpg" Launch = "\skin\DiGiPaNeL_v2\loading.jpg" ..................................................................................... I had a similar problem with skins not showing up in the Evox skin menu when trying to change skins. I never deleted any of these non-working skins, so I didn't run into the problem of OTHER skins that WERE working, before the deletion of the non-working one(s), not working afterwards. However, following the instructions on this thread's initial post I was able to fix ALL of my non-working skins. During my testing I found out a few things about entries in the skin.ini file that aren't EXACTLY as suggested by the initial post, as follows:
| QUOTE | SkinName "EvolutionX","Evox1"
[Skin_Evox1]
Text = 30,37,0.5,0x000000,0,"<Time>" Text = 28,39,0.5,0x808080,0,"<Time>"
Text = 620,420,0.5,0x000000,1,"<Name> V<Version>" Text = 618,422,0.5,0x808080,1,"<Name> V<Version>"
Text = 620,37,0.5,0x000000,1,"<CD>" Text = 618,39,0.5,0x808080,1,"<CD>"
Text = 30,420,0.5,0x000000,0,"<RDName>" Text = 28,422,0.5,0x808080,0,"<RDName>"
LogoType= 3
Main = "\skin\Evolution-X 1\evox1.jpg" # Launch = "\skin\Evolution-X 1\launch.jpg" #
BarColor1 = 0x100903 BarColor2 = 0xF3DB91 BarAlpha = 0.5 MenuColor1 = 0xF3DB91 MenuColor2 = 0xD40C02 |
The name in blue is what is displayed in the menu scrolldown list when selecting a new skin within Evox and does NOT have to match the names in green nor red nor the name of the folder the skin files are in. The names in red MUST match the name of the FOLDER the *.jpg & skin.ini files are in and does NOT have to match the other colored names. The line enclosed in # is only needed when there is a separate .jpg file (used for loading/launching apps) apart from the .jpg file used for the MAIN menu. In a few of my skins I found a separate .jpg file for launching/loading yet no reference to it (the Launch= line was missing) in the skin.ini file. This doesn't cause the skin to not work, it only causes the MAIN .jpg to be used for eveything. An important thing to note is that these names are NOT case-sensitive!
