I'm having numerous problems with this build. Just found at as I just got back from a project.

Weather is totally down for me (saw others with this issue). All seems set up right but my location and the 2 other defaults bring up nothing and can't be found.

None of my WMA music files can be found as albums now. They used to work in 4-19.

With ID3 on, things got horribly slower in this build. I have 1200 music files and things haven't been fast but with 4-19 I could go from vis to music list in about 5-8 seconds. It now takes 21 seconds.

The UI arrows seem to be gone. I can no longer size the screen to fit. All I can seem to to is slide a screen that is too big on each resolution around but that's it. It was nice to see 720p is supported right with the skin.

I then went to head back to 4-19 and now it's complaining about a problem loading so clearly this build changed something as I was just in 4-19 yesterday without incident. I hope the next build is more solid as there seems to be some nice features here.

I hope you know that you are using CVS builds and what that means...

I wasn't 100% sure as previous CVS builds I'd found required someone to compile them. As these were compiled I thought they MIGHT be full releases but wasn't sure.

As a QA professional myself, yes, I'm very aware of the nature of interim builds and from that sense, I'm just glad to be able to pass on the status. I'm very impressed by what I see in this build and will now wait to see the next full release.

Thanks as usual JayDee. I'm down to one major item for XBMC to be fully useful for me and that's easy creation of complex playlists. With all the songs I have on the XBOX, the current playlist support just doesn't help. <grin> Beyond that I'm hoping for minimal things. Faster ID3 tag support. Dependable CDDB look-up for every song to find the album when included in the tag field, faster indexed file listing, deeper weather features (who ever heard of a 4-day forecast? <g>) like 5-day, 10-day and radar maps, etc.

Lastly, if anyone ever finds a way to mod the XBOX to allow for powering it on via remote, I'd be all for that. It's the only device I have that requires me to get up to go turn it on.

Check out the 'XIR Remote'...mine is fully integrated. I did a combination of the XIR and integrated remote mod that TwistedSymphony made using a Relay. user posted image

OK, OK...I'll show you the inside too. But it's not NEARLY as pretty, heh. From left to right we've got My 29-wire homebrew mod (come on...you can't bitch about a $3.00 modchip!!), The integrated remote & relay, and the XIR mod. biggrin.gif

...oh, and I have since added a heatsink to my MCPX since I'm sure all this greatly reduces the airflow in that area.

That looks like a mistake waiting to happen if "I" did that mod.

What other options are available for this? I like the sound of your controller mod. But that will mean not being able to just add it to the already existing remote macro. I'll check into it.

It works PERFECT!!! ....and you don't even know. I have so many more mods in there, heh. I always build my own mods. I refuse to pay for anything (except parts)....that's why I'm here. I used to burn my own PSX mods too...they ran me $1.00 at the time when they were being sold commercialy for $30 (if you bought ten). It's all about the Cheapmods!! My installs are clean as hell though and I solder like a pro. I'll have to see if I can track down some pics of the 29 wire install on the bottom of the board....

It's really not that much to do...it's like a 7 wire install. You don't NEED to do the relay and all of that to turn it on and off....that's just so that I don't have a dongle in the 4th port also. Check out the XIR tutorial...it may surprise you. Also, there are sites selling a solderless XIR for like 20-30 bucks if you don't want to build your own. If you don't have a PIC programmer for IC's then you'd need to build (or buy I guess!??) one anyway so you might as well buy the ready-made kit.
